GoDAO® 90 mini-tablets

GoDAO® is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMPs) designed for the dietary management of DAO deficiency and its related symptoms.

The diamine oxidase (DAO) contained in GoDAO® aids in metabolizing histamine from food in individuals with DAO deficiency. By taking a GoDAO® mini-tablet 15 minutes before each main meal, the level of DAO in the small intestine is increased, facilitating the breakdown of histamine.

Utilizing the most potent enzyme available on the market, the International Institute of DAO deficiency offers a unique format of 90 mini-tablets for better monthly planning, especially beneficial during the initial phases of a low histamine diet. Furthermore, the blister packaging ensures the enzyme’s stability for an extended period.

Bulking agent: microcrystalline cellulose and hydroxypropylcellulose; pig kidney protein extract with 7% diamine oxidase (DAO); glazing agent: ethyl cellulose; potato starch; stabilizers: sodium alginate and magnesium salts of fatty acids; medium chain triglycerides; glazing agent: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose; stabilizers: oleic acid and stearic acid. GoDAO®is non-GMO, gluten-free, lactose-free, low in fodmaps and histamine-free.
Take one mini-tablet with water 15 minutes before your main meals. The unique 90 mini-tablet design is specifically aimed at ensuring convenience for patients, especially during the initial treatment Phase where taking 3 tablets per day is recommended. GoDAO® tablets have a gastro-resistant coating, ensuring that the enzyme diamine oxidase is not released in the stomach, but in a delayed manner in the small bowel. This is where ingested histamine is broken down. To maintain effectiveness, swallow the tablets whole without chewing or splitting them.
  • How should I store GoDAO®? The DAO enzyme is sensitive to temperature, so it’s best to keep it away from heat sources. However, if taken as recommended, GoDAO® does not require special cold storage. If you are in a less frequent consumption phase, it’s advisable to store it in the refrigerator.
  • Can I take 2 GoDAO® mini tablets together before a meal? Yes, especially when consuming foods high in histamine or when combining a meal with an alcoholic drink. In these cases, taking 2 mini tablets before can be beneficial as ethanol can saturate the enzyme DAO.
  • Should I use GoDAO® during pregnancy? We recommend consulting with your Medical Doctor or  Registered Dietitian and testing the DAO enzyme levels during pregnancy to ensure an informed decision.
  • Is it okay to crush a mini tablet? No, crushing it would render it inactive. Therefore, it should be swallowed whole without chewing, splitting, or breaking before consumption.
  • What is the shelf life of a GoDAO® box? When stored correctly, it has a 2-year shelf life.
  • What is a Food for Special Medical Purposes? They are nutritional supplements specially prepared and intended for the dietary management of patients, including infants, to fully or partially satisfy their nutritional needs. They are intended for patients who do not have sufficient capacity to digest, absorb, metabolize or excrete certain nutrients of the diet.
  • When will I start to notice the benefits? They should start around 3-4 weeks after beginning to take it at the suggested dosage. The benefits usually begin earlier and are even greater if a low-histamine diet is followed in parallel.
  • Can GoDAO® be taken along with other supplements or medications?  Yes, no problem. However, in the case of taking medications that block the DAO enzyme, such as Amitriptyline, Cimetidine, Metoclopramide, Naproxen or Clavulanic Acid, among others, it is advisable to consult with a doctor or nutritionist to adjust the dosage of GoDAO® accordingly.
