The International Society of DAO Deficiency joins the DAO Institute

All activities of the International Society of DAO Deficiency have now been absorbed and incorporated into the International Institute of DAO Deficiency.

This integration reinforces our commitment to advancing research, education, and international collaboration in the study of DAO Deficiency and histamine-related disorders.

From now on, all institutional updates, scientific projects, and community initiatives will be shared directly through the DAO Institute’s communication channels.

New Masterclass with Registered Dietitian Clara Elvers

On November 20 at 18:00 (CET), the DAO Institute will host a new interactive masterclass led by registered dietitian and licensed member Clara Elvers.
An open session where participants can interact live, ask questions, and learn practical guidance on DAO Deficiency and low-histamine diets.

DAO Institute Participates in a Scientific Conference in Cancún

On September 27, the DAO Institute took part in a scientific session in Cancún organized by Laboratorios Columbia, attended by over one hundred neurologists and rheumatologists. Director Adriana Duelo MSc RDN presented the global spectrum of DAO Deficiency symptoms and its clinical nutrition approach.

Study on Pregnancy and DAO Deficiency Published

A new study led by the University of Barcelona in collaboration with the DAO Institute has just been published in Journal of Clinical Medicine, titled:

“Improvement of Histamine Intolerance Symptoms in Pregnant Women with Diamine Oxidase Deficiency: An Exploratory Study.”

This research explores how DAO enzyme activity and histamine-related symptoms change throughout pregnancy, offering new insights into the connection between histamine metabolism and maternal health.

The DAO Institute expands its resource library with a new guide on food substitutes for low-histamine diets. Available exclusively to licensed members, this material supports dietary adaptation for patients with DAO Deficiency.

Continuous training

Today, July the 24, Prof. Dr. Marcus Zanetti (Hospital das Clínicas FMUSP, São Paulo) will host an exclusive session for DAO Institue Licensed members. During the webinar, Dr. Zanetti will discuss stress and anxiety from a diagnostic perspective, DAO activity and histaminergic transmission, lifestyle-based interventions, and the impact of histamine intolerance on mental health.

TV interview about DAO Decifiency

On Tuesday, June 8th, Lic. Ma Pilar de León, member of the International Institute of DAO Deficiency, was interviewed on Medical TV in Salta, Argentina. During the interview, she explained the main symptoms associated with histaminosis due to DAO deficiency, which foods should be avoided on a low-histamine diet, and how to identify if someone might be suffering from DAO Deficiency. Continuous training

Last Friday, May 16th, the Institute’s licensees received an exclusive webinar led by Dr. Francisco Guarner, Gastroenterologist at Centro Médico Teknon (Barcelona). During the session, Dr. Guarner discussed the current evidence linking the microbiota and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), a condition commonly seen in patients with DAO deficiency.
